We can become very complacent at times in our relationships and before we know it the atmosphere has become ‘cloudy’ or negative. Here are some tips that can help keep a rich climate of positivity in our relationships that predicts happiness and contentment.
Each week a new tip to put into practice or to experiment with and see what a difference they can make!
#1 Building an Emotional Bank Account.
Relationships that are successful have a 5 to 1 ratio of positive statements or actions to not so positive or negative ones. For every negative comment/action try to give at least five positive ones in return so we keep in the ‘black’ or in credit. By doing this we create that climate of positivity so when there is a conflict or we do ‘stuff up’ our partner’s are more likely to be more tolerant as they know in the back of their minds that we do care, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now!
So think of some small positive words or actions that you can do on a daily basis to build a feeling of fondness, admiration, and appreciation into your relationship and be in credit!
